Game Of Thrones: 4 Ups And 6 Downs From The Season Finale

2. Walk Of Atonement - Down

Cersei loves to talk the talk, but now all of that scheming and whispers in the ear of the High Sparrow have meant she€™s had to walk the walk, the conclusion of a massive fall from grace for Her Grace. She confesses her sins and pleads for Mother€™s Mercy, which comes at a cost. It is one thing to admit to her misdeeds, but now she has to atone for them in front of Gods and men. Her hair is roughly chopped off, she is stripped bare, and forced to walk before huge crowds from the Great Sept of Baelor to the Red Keep (which is a pretty long way, especially when you€™re naked and having insults/rotten food hurled at you). Lena Headey, who appears in close-up (a body double is used for the nude scenes), absolutely nails the sequence, showcasing everything Cersei is going through as she tries to remain stoic but can€™t help from breaking down. It€™s just a walk, but it is as brutal and intense as any other moment of the show.
