Game Of Thrones: 5 Character Endings That Will Not Be The Same As The Books

Sandor Clegane is one of the most interesting characters in Game of Thrones. Initially hated as Joffrey’s dog and a murderer of children, the Hound takes big strides toward redeeming himself before he dies, acting as somewhat of a guardian to Arya Stark. He even managed to work his way off her list.

His journey in the show is almost identical to the books right up until he is killed, though in the source material he never crosses blades with Brienne. While the reader is led to believe Clegane is still alive for a short time, it is actually Rorge wearing the famous helm raiding, raping and killing through the Riverlands. By the end of A Dance With Dragons, Sandor Clegane is dead and buried as confirmed by the man who buried him.

Whereas the show brought Clegane back to life with the help of Ian McShane, the books will not go down the same path. While characters have been known to come back to life in the books, there is no reason to bring Clegane back. The show’s reasons were due to his popularity, and the fact that almost every fan watching wanted to see “Cleganebowl”.

George R.R. Martin will not have these pressures to face when finishing his work, and with just two books left to complete his saga, there will be little room for an unnecessary Sandor Clegane storyline.
