3. Aurane Waters
In the books, the character of Aurane Waters is a bastard member of House Velaryon who initially fights for Stannis Baratheon as a sellsail. Captured in the Battle of the Blackwater, he switches his allegiance to the crown and becomes Master of Ships, commissioning the construction of a new fleet of warships only to abscond with them after their completion to engage in a life of piracy. The series has 1600 named characters, so why should such a minor one be included in the show, which can feasibly support around 100? It all involves a theory, and a rather feasible one at that, which all begins with a utterance (We will march into the sea and out again. Under the waves we will ride seahorses, and mermaids will blow seashells to announce our coming, oh, oh, oh) from Patchface, Shireen Baratheons motley fool who has been seemingly cut from the series. It seems irrelevant and nonsensical, until the realisation that House Velaryons sigil is a seahorse and a ship that takes Littlefinger and Sansa Stark to the Vale of Arryn has a merman blowing a seashell on its sail, hinting at a possible alliance between the apparent heir to the North, House Arryn and a pirate lord (who may still be loyal to Stannis Baratheon) with a huge fleet at his disposal. The series will probably simplify matters and exclude Aurane from proceedings, but you never know
