Game Of Thrones: 7 Best Moments From The Laws Of Gods And Men

7. Davos Makes His Case

The episode opens with Stannis Baratheon arriving at Braavos in an attempt to get a loan from the Iron Bank. After keeping him and Davos waiting, Tycho Nestoris and the rest of the representatives hear their case. The position Stannis finds himself in doesn't exactly inspire confidence in his cause, so Tycho refuses the offer. Stannis looks defeated, and not wanting to let down his king, Davos makes a compelling argument in Stannis's favor. Tywin, the only competent member of House Lannister, is not much long for this world, which will eventually lead to problems down the road. Stannis, however, is still relatively young, and as evident by Davos's lack of fingers, has a code of honor he sticks to no matter what. Basically, if the Iron Bank wants to back a man who will pay back his debts, Stannis is the man. This was our first prolonged scene with Stannis and Davos this season, and it was a good one. First off, it was great to finally see Braavos after hearing about it for so long, as well as the Iron Bank. The special effects of the series just keep getting better, as evident by the Titan of Braavos, which was beautifully realized. What makes the scene though is how Davos pulls through for Stannis once again. It's about time; Stannis has been down on his friend for far too long. Davos doesn't take the rejection sitting down. He wisely uses a combination of reason and personal experience to make a powerful case. Stannis has been in the gutter for quite a long time now, so it is a relief to see his position finally achieve a sense of progression. For once, things are looking up for Team Dragonstone.
