Game Of Thrones: 7 Storylines Season 5 Decided To Skip

3. Lady Stoneheart

Catelyn Stark is alive. Well, sort of.

This storyline appeared as early as book three, but so far there's no sign of it in the show. After the Red Wedding Catleyn's body was dumped in the river, only for it to be pulled out by Arya's direwolf, Nymeria. It was then found by the Beric Dondarrion, who resurrects her, dying for the last time in the process. She then becomes, for all intents and purposes, a vengeful zombie, hunting down those responsible for her family's downfall.

We see her properly in the fourth book, where she captures Brienne and Podrick (who are nowhere near Winterfell) and their companion Ser Hyle Hunt because she believes Brienne now works for the Lannisters. She commands Brienne to kill Jaime, which she refuses to do. Lady Stoneheart decides instead to hang the three...

Instead of gallivanting off to Dorne, Jaime is in the Riverlands negotiating the surrender of Robb Stark's last supporters. He makes the decision to abandon Cersei to her fate in King's Landing, and then Brienne shows up in Jaime's camp, claiming that the Hound has Sansa and will kill her if Jaime does not come to get her. And this is all we know. It would have been a fantastic cliffhanger on which to end the season, but instead all the characters important to this storyline are in separate places. There's still a bit of hope that we might see Lady Stoneheart, but as Michele Fairley hasn't been seen on set recently it seems unlikely.
