Game Of Thrones: 7 Things That "The House Of Black And White" Did Right (And 3 It Didn't)
7. The Truth About Aerys
Over in Essos, Daenerys’ isolation from the majority of the main playershas often left her behind the times with regard to the goings-on of the game of thrones. Still referring to Robert Baratheon as “the Usurper” and relying far too heavily on the ravings of Viserys, her delusions about the circumstances that led to the annihilation of the Targaryen dynasty have felt naïve for the better part of the series.
Luckily, “The House of Black and White” saw Ser Barristan deciding that it was time for Dany to learn some hard truths about her family. Aerys was not called the “Mad King” for nothing, and Robert’s usurping of the throne was not a move unwelcome to many living in the Seven Kingdoms. Dany needed some disillusionment with her family, and it was curious to discover that the loyal Ser Barristan is keeping an eye on his young queen for any signs of her father’s fatal madness.
