Game Of Thrones: 7 Things That "The House Of Black And White" Did Right (And 3 It Didn't)
8. A New Lord Commander
Ever since the death of Lord Commander Mormont in Season 3, there’s been a sense of disorganization at the Wall. While it has allowed certain characters to show their true colors in the leadership vacuum, the pettiness among members of the Watch in the squabble for power has grown tiresome, and the election of a new lord commander has been long overdue.
Fortunately, “The House of Black and White” solved the problem. In a thoroughly unexpected move, young Jon Snow wins by a single vote, beating out Denys Mallister from Eastwatch and the intolerable Alliser Thorne from Castle Black. Admittedly, the turn of events was a bit too swift and casual not to stretch the suspension of disbelief nearly to the breaking point, but Jon’s new position of power should allow for some interesting progression to the story at the Wall.
