Game of Thrones: 10 Best Moments From The Children

6.Ygritte's Funeral

After taking part in a funeral for his fallen brothers, Jon visits Tormund Giantsbane to ask if he wants to say goodbye to his fallen comrades in whatever way is customary to Wildlings. This leads to a conversation about Ygritte in which Tormund reaffirms the fact that she did love him and that she belongs in the real North. Jon understands this and takes Ygritte's body beyond the Wall for a personal funeral. He constructs a funeral pyre in front of a heart tree, places her body on it, and lights it on fire. Jon begins to leave in haste but, overcome with grief, he stops to mourn. This was a nice little scene that concludes Jon's relationship with Ygritte in an emotionally satisfying way. For the first time, albeit briefly at the end of the scene, we finally get to see Jon properly emote. It may not seem significant, but given how internal Jon processes his feelings, it goes a long way to showing the effect the whole experience has had on him. It's just a wonderfully constructed and simple scene that is elevated by the combination of beautiful cinematography and emotional music from Ramin Djawadi. It's hard to imagine anyone invested in this storyline feeling unsatisfied.
