7. Daenerys Chains Her Dragons

Daenerys is receiving the days supplicants when one of them appears before her teary eyed and in pain. He reveals the charred bones of his daughter, who was killed by her biggest dragon Drogon. This distresses her and after careful deliberation she decides that she must keep her dragons away from the citizens of Meereen in order to keep them safe. She lures her two smaller dragons down into the catacombs and tearfully wraps chains around their necks. Realizing what she has done, the two dragons scream at her as she leaves and locks them away in the dark. This is probably the most difficult decision Daenerys has ever had to make. Seeing the bones of that little girl makes her realize that her dragons, the very creatures that gave her the ability to ascend to power this far, are now a liability in regards to the stability of her rule. She can't have the people she swore to protect being killed by her dragons; she is responsible for both of them. As much as it pains her to do, and it clearly does, she has to lock them away. It is a real low point for her because she is now forced to chain up her own children; reducing them to a state of being she has fought so hard to eliminate. It's the worst thing imaginable for her, but being a Queen and ruling over people means taking care of them even at great personal cost. How this will affect the relationship with her dragons is unknown at this time, but judging from their reactions they are not happy. Drogon is still out there though, and he is the biggest and most dangerous of them all. For the first time in a finale we leave Daenerys not with cheers but tears.
