Game Of Thrones: 8 Characters Who Should Get POVs In The Winds Of Winter

8. Tormund Giantsbane

Who Is He? - Formerly a Wildling leader that joined with Mance Rayder to assault The Wall, the fearsome Tormund Giantsbane became a strong ally of Nights Watch Commander Jon Snow following the truce that was arranged between the two parties following the arrival of Stannis Baratheon. Having volunteered to lead a ranging to the Wildling village of Hardhome in order to rescue its population (and the ill-fated Nights Watch men previously sent to fetch them by sea), Tormund is presumably en-route to the location at the end of A Dance With Dragons, as he is not present when Jon is stabbed his by his Nights Watch brethren. Why Should He Have A POV? - Though the troubles at Hardhome are said to be the work of slavers, its geographic location (further North than anywhere else seen in the series so far) would make it a perfect location to offer further exposure to the White Walkers and the threat that they pose to the rest of Westeros. Tormund (a formidable character) could be used as a sacrifice to illustrate the severity of their menace, but could also stir up proceedings at The Wall should he arrive back and discover what has happened to Jon. Without Jon, The Wall (a major location) also lacks any POV characters other than Melisandre (whose chapter may have been a one-off), so offering a firsthand perspective from Tormund may be essential, as well as humourous in places given the hilarity of some of his quotes.
