Game Of Thrones: 8 Clues For How It Will (And Won't) End
4. The King Is Dead
Unbeknownst to him, Jon Snow has been revealed to be a Targaryen - and not just any Targaryen, in fact, but a legitimate son of Rhaegar Targaryen. As season seven plays out, Jon is headed back to Winterfell with his new lover/queen… his aunt Daenerys.
Daenerys was raised Targaryen, and incestuous marriages are perfectly normal to her. Plain-speaking northerner Jon, on the other hand, will squick so hard and fast that he’ll spend the season premiere scrubbing his dragon eggs with iron wool. And then there’s the bigger concern - he now has a greater claim to the Iron Throne than his own queen.
Jon must realise that, with the only proof an old diary and a mad boy’s vision, any such claim would be challenged. Moreover, Daenerys is the queen that Westeros (and the show) demands. He’ll swear Sam and Bran to silence and keep his parentage a noble secret, just as his father did… but he won’t be able to bring himself to continue the relationship with Daenerys, which will cause a rift between them.
And if Jon Snow isn’t bound for the Iron Throne, then it’s a foregone conclusion. The noblest character still alive will, come the finale, heroically sacrifice himself for everyone else.
