7. Melisandre Actually Supports Her
Speaking of Azor Ahai, the one person in the world who is most convinced that he will indeed be reborn is Melisandre, the Red Priestess who follows the Lord of Light R'hllor. However, it's not Daenerys she supports, but instead Stannis Baratheon. Or is it?
One theory goes that she is actually a double agent, and her true loyalty is to Daenerys Targaryen, who she really believes will be Azor Ahai Reborn. This stems from Tyrion overhearing Red Priests discuss Daenerys as being Azor Ahai, and the question of Melisandre going against other members of her faith.
She is using Stannis as a pawn, to cause instability and chaos in Westeros, burning people alive to damage his reputation, and also help keep the White Walkers at bay until Daenerys can arrive and save the day as Azor Ahai.
Melisandre's true motives are still something of a question mark, although this does go against the textual evidence of her seeing Jon Snow as the true Azor Ahai when she looks in her fires. However, given Daenerys is set to be involved with a R'hllor follower in the future, there might be something to it after all.
