6. She Never Makes It To Westeros
Although the expectation, and Danerys' plan, is to go back to Westeros and take what is rightfully hers, breaking chains, wheels, and anything else she can get her hands on in the process, there is always the slight possibility that she'll never actually get there. Certainly after five books/seasons of wandering around Essos, and being tied-up in the 'Meereenese Knot', it does feel that way, so could it be true?
There's a few possible options presented online for the character that involve her not making it to Westeros. She is currently back among the Dothraki, and there's the chance she won't make it safely out of that situation, especially as they are so unwilling to follow her. If she does escape them, or convince them to join her, she will have to return to Meereen first. Can Dany, presented as a noble leader, truly leave Meereen in such chaos?
Another possibility is that she flies East to Asshai, given the prophecy from the House of Undying - "to reach the West, you must go East" - and even though GRRM has said that won't be happening, it's not 100% out of the question.
While the signs do point to Daenerys making it to Westeros at some point (even if it isn't anytime soon), Martin loves to subvert expectations, and having her tragically die before she reaches the Seven Kingdoms, or not heading there at all, would certainly be doing that if nothing else.
