1. She Is Going Insane
Many Targaryens are said to have been mad or insane, stretching back as far as King Maegor, and most notably prominent in Aerys II, commonly referred to as the Mad King, and father of Daenerys. Given it appears to be a repeating trait in the Targ line, could Dany be taking after her father and being overcome with madness?
She has made more and more controversial decisions as the series has gone on, ones that betray her kind, noble nature and status as a hero of the series. For instance, there was the order to kill 163 slavers, and the men she allowed to be killed by her dragons. She makes a lot of bad choices, and what she does tends to have some devastating results.
Is she simply badly advised and acting impulsively, or is there more to it? Is this the beginning of her descent into madness, whereby she will turn out far more like her father than her elder brother Rhaegar, and quite possibly be the worst ruler imaginable for Westeros? This would be an extremely deceptive trick from Martin, setting her up as a hero when in actual fact she'd be a crazed villain, albeit a rather complex and tragic one.
