Game Of Thrones: 9 Awful Moments That Were Way Worse In The Books

4. Sansa's Assault

Early in Game Of Thrones Season 2, the riot in the capitol and the near rape of Sansa Stark represented a pivotal shift in which we could see how much the residents of King's Landing really hated our not-so-favourite King Joffrey. In the books, it wasn't exactly a picnic either. In fact, it was absolutely terrifying. In the show, Sansa gets attacked by multiple rapists, but was thankfully saved by The Hound at the last minute. However, in the books it's a lady named Lollys Stokeworth, a noblewoman, who gets attacked by the rapists, but she didn't have a hound-in-shining-armour to save her day quite like the Stark girl did. The rape itself isn't documented step by step (thankfully), but it's pretty clear afterwards how terrible things got for poor Stokeworth, when we're told that she was raped by fifty men outside a tanner€™s shop and she even ends up bearing a child from the incident. It looks like George R.R. Martin doesn't let things get too bad for Lady Sansa in the books, so why do the producers of the show insist on bullying her?
