7. Daenerys
How She First Appears It's hard to believe the position Daenerys found herself in at the start of the show. Essentially chattel, she was sold into marriage to Khal Drogo where it looked like she had a life of misery mapped out for her. She was passive, helpless as she was abused by her brother as well as her new husband. It was difficult to imagine her making the change necessary to escape the life ahead of her. What She Becomes Piece by piece, though, the world seemed to fall apart in her favour. Her resilience and intelligence earned the respect of her husband, who murdered her brother. It seemed she was finally among her people in the Dothraki. The wild and tribal aspects of their society brought the same features out of her character. Before long she was eating a horse's internal organs and bathing in dragon fire. From shrinking violet to total bad-ass in a few short episodes.
