9. Tywin Lannister
The patriarch of House Lannister, Tywin was responsible for Robert's Rebellion and helped plant the seeds for the majority of the show's major storylines.
Dangerously intelligent, a brutal tactician and a king of manipulation, Tywin was one of the richest and most influential people in Westeros, and used his influence to better his family's standing in the world. He strived to make Jaime and Cersei follow in his footsteps, and constantly insulted Tyrion for being a dwarf. He also orchestrated the Red Wedding.
Tywin was as sinister as they make them, and even in death his influence continued through to the show's end.
