Game Of Thrones: House Of The Dragon - 10 Reasons To Be Excited
3. And Familiar Faces
Die hard fans of Game of Thrones will be delighted to see the inclusion of the familiar words and sigils of houses appearing in the original series. Although the events are set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones take place, House of the Dragon will still feature familiar names, in addition to the obvious return of the Targaryens.
The Lannisters always pay their debts, and are the first confirmed house to be returning to HBO’s latest offering. Jefferson Hall, best known to audiences for his role as Torstein on Vikings, has already been confirmed to play identical twins, Lord Jason and Ser Tyland Lannister. In Martin’s canon, Jason is the Lord of Casterly Rock and head of the family while his brother Tyland is a shrewd, ambitious politician who rises swiftly through the political snake pit of King’s Landing’s hierarchy.
While no other famous names have been confirmed for the first season, anxious fans can rest easy. House Stark and House Baratheon do feature in Martin’s story as the Dance of the Dragons plays out, so they can look forward to the sight of wolf, lion, stag and dragon banners streaming on the battlefields once again in seasons to come.
