2. House Targaryen At The Height Of Their Power
When House Targaryen is introduced in Game of Thrones, the entirety of their house has been wiped out in Robert’s Rebellion, save for siblings Viserys and Daenerys.
While viewers will be familiar with how that story plays out, the only hints from Game of Thrones as to House Targaryen’s former dominance as the ruling power in Westeros was the fortress of Dragonstone and the Iron Throne, forged by the fire of Aegon Targaryen’s dragon Balerion the Dread.
House of the Dragon will show House Targaryen at the height of its power and give viewers a glimpse of Westeros before the wars that tore the Seven Kingdoms apart in Game of Thrones. A land ruled by imperious dragon riding conquerors, one of the last surviving noble families of Valyria descended from the first man to conquer Westeros.
The series will explore the tempestuous relationship within the family as they vie for the right to sit on the Iron Throne; overseen by King Viserys, Princess Rhaenyra is the King’s firstborn with designs on the throne. Prince Daemon, the King’s younger brother is the cunning heir apparent while naval titan Corlys Velaryon’s wife Rhaenys, is also a Targaryen dragon rider; passed over for the crown before her marriage in favour of Viserys.
