Game Of Thrones: Is Gendry Really Cersei Lannister's Son?

The Case Against...

5. It's Mostly Based Upon Mentions Of Hair Colour - And Gendry Remembers Her

As mentioned previously, the biggest pieces of evidence for this theory are Cersei talking about her "black-haired beauty", and Gendry knowing his mother had "yellow hair".

Together it does form the basis of a compelling argument, but when you take a step back and look at it, it's a theory that is built just upon hair colour. That is flimsy, although not inherently a nail in its coffin: hair colour IS important in Game of Thrones, because it's how Ned Stark learns that Cersei's children are Jaime's, not Robert's.

However, it becomes even weaker when paired with the fact Gendry remembers his mother. He says she died when he was "little". His memories don't seem anecdotal, like he's heard them from someone else, but things he can genuinely remember happening when he was young. Cersei would have had to have given him up almost immediately after his birth for her plan to work, and while it's not completely impossible Gendry has flashes of things he saw and heard as a newborn baby, it's very, very unlikely.
