Game Of Thrones: Ranking Every Major Battle From Worst To Best

19. Siege Of Casterly Rock

From the outside, it looked very much like Casterly Rock was going to be the end of Greyworm and his Unsullied thanks to the way the writing had basically marked him out as Dead Meat walking. Ultimately, though, it was something of a non-event as it turned out that the Lannisters had tricked Tyrion into a distraction aimed at destroying Dany's fleet and stranding the Unsullied in the Westerlands.

The whole point of the sequence was to give us hope in Tyrion's plan (and a karmic pleasure in the fact that he could use his own secret prostitute tunnels to undo his family seat) but then pull the rug out when it turned out to be a whole load of nothing.

In the end, aside for some scuffling with a small defensive force, the battle was no more than a strategic exercise designed to show that Tyrion wasn't quite the infallible genius we'd all been led to believe (while pushing stress onto his relationship with Dany). The real battle took place at The Reach and while this was part of a good episode, it was nothing really to write home about.
