Game Of Thrones: Ranking EVERY Major Death Worst To Best

51. The Night King

Game Of Thrones Ned Stark
HBO

Death: Stabbed with a Valyrian Steel dagger by Arya Stark (Maisie Williams).

Ever since his first appearance in season four, The Night King (Vladimir Furdik) was the most hyped-up and teased bad guy since the MCU's Thanos. Who was he? What were his connections with both Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) and Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright)? And, most importantly, how on earth was this terrifying figure going to be defeated?

For the latter question, the answer to that is that Arya somehow snuck past all of his White Walker guards and jumped out of nowhere to stab him.

"Wait... that's it?!" most probably cried out. Well, yeah. That's it. As for the other two questions... who knows? Nothing about him was explained at all.

This was just a terrible anticlimax all around. The Night King had always been seen as this terrifying, unstoppable villain but then he was so easy to kill. He was meant to be the ultimate big bad of the story, yet he died halfway through season eight.

As well as this, none of the foreshadowing across eight years of build-up ever pointed to Arya killing the Night King.
