Game Of Thrones: Ranking Every Season 6 Storyline From Worst To Best

1. Long May She Reign

Game Of Thrones Season 6 Euron Greyjoy Jon Snow
HBO

Key Characters: Cersei Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Margaery Tyrell, Tommen Baratheon, The High Sparrow, Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane, Grand Maester Pycelle, Qyburn

Best Moment: The Great Sept of Baelor explodes...

Worst Moment: ... with Margaery still inside.

Season 6's biggest storyline is also its best. Cersei's lifelong thirst for power finally has the outcome everyone has been waiting for.

Despite conducting despicable actions regularly, fans cannot help but empathize with Cersei's struggles and celebrate her successes. It's going to take something massive to truly villainize her. However, it is with this storyline that Cersei truly cements her spot as Game of Thrones' greatest antagonist.

Cersei participates in weeks of underhanded tactics, building up the suspense to what is sure to be an incredible finale. Lena Headey provides a magnificent anchor to a slow-burning storyline that slowly reveals itself, never providing a dull moment throughout its entirety. It is Cersei's nuclear option that provides Season 6 with its greatest scene.

With a combination of excellent music and a creeping sense of dread as both the viewers and Margaery Tyrell slowly realize what is going on, the destruction of the Sept is both an impressive set piece and one of the best crafted pieces of television in history.

Although Margaery deserved a more personal death, her murder lead to Cersei's ultimate triumph, and the ending to Season 6's absolute best storyline.

Cersei of the House Lannister, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms. Long may she reign.
