Game Of Thrones Season 3: 10 Actors Who Knocked It Out The Park

5. Peter Dinklage €“ Tyrion Lannister

Tyrion Now, some of you might be furious that Peter Dinklage isn€™t at number one, and if this was season one or two, I€™d agree with you. However, in the hinterland of season three Tyrion didn€™t really have much to do. Yes, he did get forcibly married, but that was more of a moment for Charles Dance, not our favourite Lannister. The only other things he seemed to do was find out the kingdom was utterly bankrupt, and get hen-pecked by Shae. Ah yes, Shae. This season Shae pretty much acted as the millstone bringing Tyrion down. Don€™t get me wrong, Tyrion€™s still awesome, but every time he seemed to be hitting his previous heights he was brought crashing back down to Earth by his mistress. Even finding out Podrick was a sex god €“ which was awesome €“ was tempered with scenes of irrelevant domestic strife. I mean, he didn€™t even get to slap Joffrey. I don€™t want to see a flustered Tyrion, I want to see a witty Tyrion, a heroic Tyrion. As Olenna pointed out in an early episode, she had expected someone quite debauched, and all she got was a browbeaten book-keeper. I think the audience can sympathise with her. However, Dinklage did have some kick-ass scenes with his on-screen father, and him dragging that chair across the Hand€™s chamber was a great Tyrion moment. It€™s just a shame there wasn€™t enough of them this season, and it€™s a mark of just how much Dinklage kills in the part that he can be so far up the list and yet I still sound disappointed.
