2. All The Extra Margaery Tyrell
I was really excited when I heard they were casting Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell, who I remembered from the very popular Showtime costume drama, The Tudors. Dormers portrayal of Anne Boleyn has me sure that she would knock Margaery Tyrell out of the water. She did that and more, as the many extra scenes written for her that were not in the books demonstrate. In the books, she is mostly a part of Sansas story, at least during A Storm of Swords, but this season gave us a lot of extra time with her and let us see her for the masterful player of the Game of Thrones that she is. Managing to control Joffrey Baratheon is no small feat and the skill at which she manages him, pulling away what little influence Cersei still had over him, adds a lot to her character. The scene between her and Cersei is particularly good at showcasing this, and letting us know that Cersei may have a powerful enemy in the future, one who knows better than to play the petty games that she does. Giving her all this time really also developed her motives as to why she would want the crown, whereas the books are much more ambiguous. She doesnt want to be a queen, she wants to be the queen. And if she continues to play the Game as good as she is now, who knows what the future might hold in store.
