1. All The Extra Tywin Lannister
Charles Dance is an amazing actor and every scene that he is in is a joy to watch. Luckily, they gave us a lot to watch this season, with scenes with pretty much every much every important person in Kings Landing. Joffrey may wear the crown, but it's clear that Tywin has the power. A lot of his material this season wasn't in the books, like the conversation with Cersei, the dialogue with Joffrey in the throne room, the marriage talks between him and Olenna Tyrell, and parts of the conversation between him and Tyrion after the Red Wedding. And yet, Charles Dance killed every single one. Tywin Lannister is pragmatic and he is always use to being smarter than everyone else around him, always playing them to get what he wants. As Olenna Tyrell says, he is a man who lives up to his reputation. Watching him march right into Kings Landings and knock all the former players in this Game of Thrones right out of the way was spectacular to watch. Watching him talk Joffrey down, even as Joffrey sits on the throne, was great to watch and every single conversation he had this season didnt miss a beat in showing the force that is Tywin Lannister. And yet, Dance even managed to make the character oddly sympathetic. The bit of conversation in the finale where he tells Tyrion he wanted to drown him when he was born, but didnt, had me genuinely feeling for him. Because, as sad as that is for this dysfunctional family, saying that is as close to loving as Tywin will ever get. Still, Dance turns what is one of the most hard-hearted characters in the story into someone the audience can actually empathize with. I cant wait to see what he does next season, in what will most likely be his last. (If youve read this far into the list, then you shouldve known that.) Thats my list and if youre as hungry for the next season as I am, hopefully this helped a little bit with your withdrawal. But just remember that, as the Bastard of the Lord of the Dreadfort says, If you think this has a happy ending, then you havent been paying attention.
