Game Of Thrones Season 5: Ranking All Episodes Worst To Best

1. Episode 8 - Hardhome

Without a doubt the season's most gripping, mind-boggling and all-round awe-inspiring episode was Episode 8, when Jon makes it to Hardhome to negotiate with the wildlings, only to be plunged into all-out war with the icy White Walkers. Fans got a huge glimpse of how they operate, and a look at their hierarchy. Everything, absolutely everything, about the sequence was flawless, from the effects to the music to the fight scenes to the horrendously brilliant silence as the dead are raised, with Jon looking on with sheer helplessness. It was a small-screen masterpiece. One of the greatest triumphs in the episode was that aside from it's finale third carnage, it was still a great episode. Cersei's fall from grace was shown, Arya got a lovely change of scenery being able to visit the Braavosi docks, Reek tells Sansa that he didn't actually kill Bran and Rickon, while the scenes between Tyrion and Daenerys were sensational. They were the best moments in Meereen, and both characters complimented each other tremendously well, with high hopes for their futures. Best Moment: Jon being stalked and hunted down by the White Walker warrior was gripping, with his pursuer commanding a genuinely amazing presence, similar to a 'Predator'-style creature. Their fight is tense, and the look of shock from both combatants, and the light ping of the swords, as Jon's remains in tact is great. Jon's final swings and killer blow seal the deal on one of the series' best one vs. one encounters.
