Aside from Littlefinger's suspect motivations, the other point of questioning with the the Knights of the Vale was the timing of their arrival, and whether or not Sansa knew they were actually coming.

It was weird when Sansa first lied to Jon about gaining knowledge from Littlefinger, and it's continued to be increasingly strange as she has withheld the fact that he has an army who could help. Maybe she believes that Jon would reject him, and maybe she's right. But when Sansa's complaining that Jon didn't ask her for advice, but then says she doesn't know anything about battles, why not mention the huge army you've been offered and written to?

If she didn't know they were coming, that's easier to swallow, because you wouldn't mention potential help if it's not going to arrive. But if she did know, then it's really odd that she said nothing, and that they didn't arrive for so long (except for creating dramatic tension, obviously).
