Game Of Thrones Season 6: 10 Ups And 2 Downs From 'Book Of The Stranger'
Downs...
2. Jorah And Daario's Bogus Journey
So, Jorah and Daario spent a few weeks travelling across the Dothraki sea, tracking Daenerys, for what exactly?
In the end, she didn't really need their help - if anything, they only succeeded in almost getting themselves killed. Meanwhile, the banter between the pair was really poor, so the scenes weren't at least entertaining. There was a brief dick measuring contest in relation to Daenerys, and then Daario saw that Jorah has greyscale (!) and it was pretty much ignored.
There was some strong writing in this episode, but clearly the writers used up all the good lines before they got to Daario and Jorah. Added to that is the fact that their plan makes no sense (did they really think they'd be able to just sneak in, grab Daenerys, and sneak back out?), and that's ignoring the strange Westeros rules of travel that allowed them to get there so fast (something that also applies to Littlefinger, though his travels disobey the laws of physics).
Obviously the characters needed something to do while their Queen was held captive, and it needed to get them away from Meereen in order to allow Tyrion to take charge, but it really felt rather pointless.
