13. Jon Is Resurrected

I'm sure there were some viewers out there that thought when Jon Snow was stabbed to death that would be that. He'd followed in the footsteps of Ned and Robb, tried to do the honorable thing, trusted the wrong people, and paid for it with his life. But even some non-book readers thought there might be more than meets the eye.

It's a hard thing to wring suspense out of a moment that everyone knows is coming, but I'd argue that the filmmakers did a pretty admirable job. No matter how sure you might have been that he'd open his eyes, as the sequence went on there was probably some part of you that began to second guess it.

Some criticized the fact that Jon seemed unchanged by the resurrection and it left no consequences. I'd argue that the point was not to see how death changed Jon, but to open the question of why he was important enough for the Lord of Light to bring back.
