Game Of Thrones Season 6: 25 Most Epic Moments

6. Hodor Holds The Door

Ned Stark, Khal Drogo and Oberyn Martell each lasted less than a season on the show. Hodor lasted nearly six full season. While the heroic leads dropped like flies, Hodor always seemed safe because of how inconsequential he was. He carried Bran, said Hodor, and that was it. Little did we know that he had his own heroic destiny to fulfill, and that it would mean the end of him.

It's a complex scene with a lot of revelations, including Bran's impact on the past and the sad truth behind Hodor's condition. It's easily one of the saddest moments in the whole series and a death no one was ready for. The gut-punch of losing such a kind character is made worse by the revelation that he is truly the most tragic figure in the show. His childhood affliction was solely a means to bring him to this moment where he was needed to give his life and it was all brought upon by the kid he's been carrying on his back for ages.

Rest in peace, Hodor. You were too gentle for this world.
