'Battle of the Bastards" was an episode full of epic moments. The titular battle has so many moments worth mentioning, from Tormund's showdown with Smalljon Umber, to Ramsay's terrifyingly effective phalanx strategy, to the Vale knights arriving. And we've yet to get to the most jaw-dropping moments, this one is note worthy for making us all literally hold our breath.

Despite this episode's best efforts, we all knew deep down that Jon would make it out alive. But when we see him trampled in the chaos of the battle, forced down into the dirt and buried under the fleeing and dead men, a part of us all thought, "Are they going to kill Jon again?" As he dragged himself up from the ground and forced his way upward to finally take a gasp of air, we all breathed a sigh of relief with him. And then we're treated to that beautiful and disturbing overhead shot.

The episodes behind the scenes secrets help to make moments like these even more impressive. Apparently, this sequence was not in the script and was added at the last minute due to time constraints. They call those 'happy accidents'.
