Game Of Thrones Season 6: 5 Reasons Cleganebowl Needs To Happen (And 3 It Doesn't)
5. Cleganebowl Yes: Making Friends With Fire
While I do believe that the zombification of the Mountain may have stolen some brutally awesome smack talk away from us there is one thing about it that I like; it is the perfect excuse to introduce fire into the battle.
Instead of just arbitrarily setting the fight in a burning keep like a Mortal Kombat arena, it would be good if fire is a deliberate and necessary end to this fight. The symbolism is obvious, it's significance has already been woven nicely through the seasons and while I think it may be too wanton for Sandor to cruelly burn a half dead simpleton, using it reluctantly to purge Gregor of his miserable existence would be fitting in a more emotional way.
Depending on when this takes place it may well take place in a burning keep, but it could be surrounded by White Walkers below while a swirl of dragons rain down fire from above. There is no doubt that the new mission statement of 'Thrones is to embrace the fantasy element fully, so I doubt Cleganebowl will end with just blood, guts and disappointment.
