4. The Promise Of More White Walkers

After the early seasons' promises that Winter Is Coming, season 5's ludicrously good Hardhome offered promise that the White Walkers were getting closer to knocking on the door of the wall and murdering everyone inside. It was a small flash of brilliance in an otherwise frustratingly slow-burning story arc, but now it looks like we're actually going to see it built on a bit more.

By the look of the trailers, the Night's King is getting increasingly bold (being mostly invincible will do that for you) and is continuing his march south, despite the sea being a pretty big impediment.

Those shots of the White Walkers advancing towards a line of fire (and hopefully walking through with middle fingers raised at whoever thought it would stop them) was one of the most stunning shots of the trailer, and there's definitely a sense that we're going to see more than brief diversions to their story this season. Presumably in parallel with Sam Tarly learning more about them and discovering the Night's King's mysterious backstory.
