Game Of Thrones Season 6: 6 Crazy Fan Theories About Bran Stark

3. Alternate Timeline Bran

One that borrows elements from a number of other theories, but manages to be its own thing, is the notion of Bran being in an alternate timeline and affecting events from there.

Indeed it goes along a similar strand to the Jaime theory, but goes further. It posits that Bran, in an alternate future, is tethered to a weirwood tree in a world where the White Walkers have won. Thus he is going back through time and changing all sorts of events in order to try and fix what went wrong in the timeline and save the world, which is why he keeps seeing various moments from throughout history.

Like with many of the theories, it's using what happened with Hodor - and various other things fans have long assumed about Bran's importance - and taking them pretty far. However, the idea of Westeros being destroyed isn't a difficult one to imagine, and Bran's likely to have a big role in the endgame. If they're introducing an element as big and powerful as time travel, then - with all respect to our late friend - there must be more importance than just Hodor's origins.
