1. The White Walkers' Pattern

Also gimpsed in the White Walker creation scene was a rather familiar pattern.

As the camera zooms out from the tree and we get a shot from above, there's a rather interesting spiral patter laid out across the ground. That appeared back in Season 3, when Jon and the wildlings arrive at the Fist of the First Men. When they got there all they found were the corpses of horses, set out in a very similar fashion to what we see here.

After the episode, David Benioff confirmed that the pattern is an ancient symbol used in rituals by the Children, meaning that it's been a hint to their origin and also showing just where the White Walkers learnt it.
