Game Of Thrones Season 6 Finale: 8 Things You Might've Missed In 'The Winds Of Winter'

1. The Red Wedding Payoff

I've already mentioned the perverse pleasure in watching Arya cut open Walder Frey's throat, but in the way she carried out the killing she closed the loop that started with the Red Wedding.

The way she stands behind Frey, opening his throat, is a very clear callback to the murder of Catelyn, and again it involves a Stark and a Frey, only this time with the roles reversed.

It also means that the three main perpetrators of the Red Wedding - Tywin Lannister, Roose Bolton, and Walder Frey - are now all dead, and killed in ways that mirror the deaths at the wedding.

Robb was shot with arrows in the chest, and that's how Tyrion killed Tywin. Then, you can either look at the way Talisa was stabbed, or Roose stabbing Robb to deliver the fatal blow, but the point remains the same: Roose was stabbed to death. Then now we've got the death of Walder, a la Catelyn.

The Starks send their regards.
