Cause Of Death: Killed by wildfire.

Over the course of the past two seasons, the High Sparrow has served as a fantastic, easily-hatable villain in King's Landing. His sense of righteousness knew no bounds, and he was maniacal in his desire to see so-called sinners brought to justice before the Gods. All of this was wonderfully captured by Jonathan Pryce, who performed some great work, especially when going head to head with Cersei.

While for so long it seemed that he was going to win, beating Cersei at every turn (and Olenna Tyrell and many others too), Cersei had one final ace up her sleeve in the form of wildfire. In the end it wasn't the wildfire that killed him though, even if that was what delivered the blow. It was his righteousness, his refusal to see reason and steadfast belief in holding the trial no matter what, that meant he and countless others were still inside the Sept when the wildfire went BOOM.
