Game Of Thrones Season 7: 10 Big Questions After 'Eastwatch'
7. What About That Big Reveal?
In amongst Sam's proclamations to strike out from the Citadel and forge his own path, and discussion about the raven from Winterfell, was a seemingly unimportant line from Gilly, but one which will have made many viewers gasp.
Sam may not have cared, but Gilly revealing that Rhaegar Targaryen had his marriage annulled and married someone else is a huge deal. The question is whether this was just a moment of fan-service, or if it'll be recalled on the show?
If Sam does indeed reunite with Jon at Winterfell, could the reveal be made there - perhaps after Bran has dropped the biggie about R+L=J? Then again, since Bran can see all of history, there's no real need for Sam and Gilly to have this information, beyond a nice touch for the fans.
However it's revealed, though, will it change anything? Not being a bastard changes a lot of what Jon thinks of himself and his past, and makes him the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, but he's so focused on the White Walkers (not to mention an already reluctant ruler) that it's hard to see him wanting it.
