1. The Invasion Is The Final Shot Of The Season

A lot of the marketing for Season 7 has centred around 'the Great War' finally being here. That war, of course, being the Battle for Westeros between the dead and the living, between ice and fire, the White Walkers and the humans.

And yet, that battle can't actually play out too much in Season 7, with another six episodes to follow. We'll get a hint of it with the Hardhome-esque sequence, but otherwise it's all about setting it up.

For that to happen, the White Walkers need a way of getting into Westeros, which means the Wall has to come down. With Bran heading home, he'll have to pass through, and since he carries the Night King's mark it's widely believed that will break the magic on the Wall, allowing the Night King to bring it crashing down.

The question, then, is when that'll happen? The sight of the Wall coming down and the Walkers invading Westeros would be one of the biggest moments in the series' history, setting up the very end of the show. There's no better moment to do that, establishing Season 8 as the last and leaving fans desperate for me, than that being the very last shot of Season 7, Episode 7.
