Game Of Thrones Season 7: 10 Ups And 2 Downs From 'Stormborn'

1. Nymeria's Return

I do wish they hadn't put this in the trailer for episode 2, as it did mean that it wasn't a big surprise, but nonetheless this scene still managed to steal the entire episode.

It was obvious that it was coming when Arya huddled around her fire, but the show did a good job of building up to the moment, keeping us in suspense just long enough.

Furthermore, while there wasn't a surprise with the return itself, the show did pull the rug from under us with how it went down. Rather than Nymeria and Arya being properly reunited and trotting off home together, the wolf rejects her.

It makes sense, as Nymeria has made the Riverlands her home now after being chased away by Arya, and that pack is her family, which is what gives us Arya's "that's not you" line (a callback to Arya telling Ned "that's not me" in Season 1, when he talks about her future as a Lady), rather than it not actually being Nymeria.

It's such a touching moment, especially given what Arya's been through and the connection Starks have to their direwolves (not explored too much on the show, but still there), and a quietly devastating one as well. Though I don't necessarily think we'll have seen the last of her and that pack.
