Game Of Thrones Season 7: 10 Ups And 2 Downs From 'Stormborn'

1. The On-The-Nose Exposition

Game of Thrones Melisandre

This was a very talky episode of Game of Thrones, and indeed one that is - as it's still early in the season - more concerned with setting things up for the wars to come.

The battle at the end goes some way to accounting for that, sparking the season into life, though there is a sense it's maybe moving a little too slowly, what with the shortened run.

The bigger issue, though, was that this episode was filled with a ridiculous amount of exposition. Some of it was presented in a way that meant it was much easier to take, such as Hot Pie, but there were some overly 'let's explain that for you' moments.

The most egregious came with Melisandre's arrival in Dragonstone's Throne Room, as she outlined to Daenerys that she believed she had a part to play, as does another (eh, wink). Oh, it's Jon Snow, yeah. It then goes on to have Missandei helpfully outline the whole issue with the translation of the prophecy, and that it could be *Princess* Who Was Promised. It was all just too on-the-nose.
