After being teased in the promo for this episode - and as part of EW's cover story prior to Season 7, which was apparently a mistake - the catspaw dagger returns this week and, though initially given to Bran, finds its way into the hands of Arya.

In the short term, there's a potentially huge implication of this. The episode goes to some lengths to show Arya's dislike and distrust of Petyr Baelish, and there's definitely some foreshadowing of a struggle between the pair. Littlefinger seems destined to die this season, so will Arya - with the Valyrian steel dagger - be the one to do it? He'd certainly be on her list if she knew how much he was guilty of, and it'd be a fitting way of bringing his story to a close.

There's Bran's role to consider in all of this too. Littlefinger gives the dagger to him, which on reflection he must think was a terrible decision, but doing so should theoretically further distance him from blame for the harm that comes to the Starks. Except, well, Bran knows the things Littlefinger has done, as evidenced by his recalling Baelish's most famous quote; he's basically saying 'I know what you did last summer'.

However, Bran, being not-Bran now, would obviously struggle to convince Arya and Sansa of this, but in giving Arya the dagger, perhaps he's ensured Littlefinger's downfall anyway. Heck, maybe he's already seen it happen. Either that, or he knows Arya will fight against the White Walkers, and has just given her a weapon that can kill them.
