Game Of Thrones Season 7: 11 Big Questions After 'The Spoils Of War'

9. Could Howland Reed Finally Appear?

With so much going on in this episode, the scene between Meera and Bran does get slightly lost in the shuffle. But it's worthy of some extra attention, as it provides an emotional farewell to an important supporting character, with Ellie Kendrick utterly nailing the scene in heartbreaking fashion.

After years of hauling Bran around, watching her brother die and sitting in a tree waiting for Bran to become the Three-Eyed Raven, she's going back home, since this version of Bran has no need of her.

But is that really the end of Meera's story? It's a strong goodbye scene, but with so little time left, any notable characters who aren't killed off but are still in Westeros should be set for a return at some point.

There's more to it where Meera is concerned too, given her father is Howland Reed. That's the same Howland Reed who was one of Ned Stark's most loyal companions, and was present at the Tower of Joy, meaning he's quite possibly the only person in the Seven Kingdoms - besides Bran - who knows the truth about Jon's parentage.

Flashback to the Tower aside, fans have been waiting years for him to eventually appear. Now that Meera is going back to Greywater Watch, could we finally see Howland? And if so, will this help bring the R+L=J confirmation to the key players, not least Jon himself?
