Game Of Thrones Season 7: 12 Big Questions After 'Stormborn'
10. Is There A Mole?
One of the big questions arising out of Euron's sneak attack is just how he knew his niece and nephew would be there. Given he set on them not long after they sailed from Dragonstone, it all seemed awfully convenient.
This begs the question of whether or not there's a mole in Daenerys' camp, which is interesting to consider. There's no obvious contender, given everyone there has good reason to hate or at least distrust the crown. Melisandre is from outside that inner circle, but she is very much focused on the Prince (or Princess) Who Was Promised, so is unlikely to sell out a potential contender. Reasonably the only one would be Varys (unless there's a huge Tyrion curveball coming), which would put Daenerys questing him in a new context, but goes against everything we know about him and what he wants (maybe that's the point).
There could be a far simpler explanation though. Blackwater Bay and Dragonstone aren't all that far apart, and sailing out of Blackwater around the same time would mean Euron could just run straight into Yara and Theon et al, assuming the timelines are the same. It does, however, beg the question of just how Euron got to Blackwater in the first place, given he'd have had to sail his huge fleet past Dragonstone to do so, but I guess they might be playing fast-and-loose with the geography on the show.
