Game Of Thrones Season 7: 7 Things You Might've Missed In 'Eastwatch'
7. The Wars To Come
"I wish you good fortune in the wars to come."
Jon says this to Daenerys just before leaving Dragonstone, and it's yet another example of what's become Westeros' most common saying in the last couple of sayings.
Whether in full or just in part, we've heard this a number of times on the series since Season 5, which was the first time it was said. Mance Rayder said it in an episode literally titled The Wars To Come, just before he died - and it's the second callback in as many episodes to Jon and Mance.
We've also seen Littlefinger, Kinvara, Melisandre, and Benjen Stark all reference it in some way, if not using the full direct quote, but the most important use is that of Arthur Dayne. The Sword of the Morning said it to Ned Stark at the Tower of Joy, where they fought while Lyanna was giving birth to Jon. It's another parallel between the pair, since both have been referred to as being the greatest swordsman to ever live, and have/had a strong bond to Rhaegar Targaryen.
