Game Of Thrones Season 7: 7 Things You Might've Missed In 'Eastwatch'

Thanks to HBO Spain, talk has already shifted from Eastwatch to Beyond The Wall (and not the cooler-sounding Death Is The Enemy, as previously reported). But while the internet is dark and full of spoilers, there's still lots to go over from this week's instalment, especially while hiding out from leaked details of episode 6.

Eastwatch may have largely just been setting up Beyond The Wall, but it was still a corker of an episode, and absolutely jam-packed with great character moments, big narrative developments, and hidden details.

Indeed, the biggest and best of these came in a throwaway line, as Gilly revealed Rhaegar Targaryen had his marriage to Elia Martell annulled and then married someone else (read more about that here). Along with Jon petting a dragon, division between Sansa and Arya, Gendry's return, and the formation of the Eastwatch Seven, there were a lot of callbacks and references that were easy to miss in one of the fastest episodes of the season.

Honourable Mention: The Letter

The letter Arya finds was hard to make out in the moment, and while the gist could be figured out, the full text of Sansa's letter to Robb is as follows:

"Robb, I write to you with a heavy heart. Our good king Robert is dead, killed from wounds he took in a boar hunt. Father has been charged with treason. He conspired with Robert’s brothers against my beloved Joffrey and tried to steal his throne. The Lannisters are treating me very well and provide me with every comfort. I beg you: come to King’s Landing, swear fealty to King Joffrey and prevent any strife between the great houses of Lannister and Stark."

Sansa sent that letter to Robb back in Season 1, and Littlefinger was present when she wrote it, hence how he knew of its existence. As for Arya finding it, that could be a different callback. In Season 3, Sansa tells Tyrion of something Arya used to do to her:

"We could sheep shift Lord Desmond’s bed. You cut a little hole in his mattress and you stuff sheep dung inside and you sew up the hole and make his bed again. His room will stink but he won’t know where it’s coming from. My sister used to do that when she was angry with me. And she was always angry with me.”
