Game Of Thrones Season 7: 7 Things You Might've Missed In 'Eastwatch'

3. The Wolf And The Stag

Game of Thrones Gendry Jon Snow
HBO

Gendry and Jon Snow came face-to-face for the first time in Eastwatch, and the two bastards made an immediate connection over their fathers (or supposed father, in Jon's case).

Not only does it recall the fact their dads were good friends, but their exchange - "You're a lot leaner." / "You're a lot shorter." - also mirrors the first time we see Ned and Robert share the screen, when the King tells his old friend "You've got fat." In response, Ned just glances at his stomach.

Gendry's return goes to a lot of lengths to make comparisons between him and his father, with the smith now wielding his own version of Robert's iconic warhammer. Then there's his relationship with Arya, whom he was at least very fond of, which parallels the love Robert had for Ned's sister Lyanna. Speaking of which, the undercurrent to their whole meeting is that their fathers weren't friends, but that Robert actually killed Jon's father.
