Game Of Thrones Season 7: 7 Things You Might've Missed In 'Eastwatch'
4. The Sheep
Sheep have been getting a lot of mentions this season, although none of them complimentary to the livestock.
The first reference to them came in the opening scene of Season 7, as Arya-as-Walder says: "Leave one wolf alive, the sheep are never safe." That was followed by Olenna Tyrell's conversation with Daenerys, where she said: "Are you a sheep? No, you're a dragon. Be a dragon."
This week, then, Cersei and Jaime get in on the act, recalling their father's words: "A lion does not concern itself with the opinion of sheep." Tywin said this to Jaime back in Season 1's You Win Or You Die, the same time he made his epic, stag-skinning debut on the show.
It's clearly positioning these Great Houses as the predators of Westeros, which is a recurring theme in Game of Thrones, especially with regards to the Lannisters, who care for themselves and not the smallfolk. Daenerys and Jon, at least, have a bit more concern for the sheep.
