Game Of Thrones Season 7: 8 Things You Might've Missed In 'Beyond The Wall'

2. Ice Dragons

In the season's biggest shock, Viserion dies at the hands of the Night King's magical ice javelin, but he isn't down for long.

The wights, now unafraid to go into the water and using chains they got from somewhere (probably Hardhome, realistically), pull Viserion out, and the Night King brings him back to 'life'.

It's actually a little unclear how this works: wights have been raised en masse by the Night King, while we've seen him ostensibly turning babies into White Walkers by touching them. The common notion is that Viserion is now a wight, but it's not clear if being touched gives him added power, makes him closer to being a White Walker (or White Dragon), or doesn't actually make a difference.

Even though this is something different either way, ice dragons have been around long before now in A Song of Ice and Fire, albeit as the stuff of legends and theories. A legendary species, they were said to roam the Shivering Sea and White Waste (north of Essos).

They were described as being "made of living ice, with eyes of pale blue crystal, vast translucent wings, and breath of cold," and Jon thinks of them in both A Storm of Swords and A Dance of Dragons. It remains to be seen whether this dragon will have a breath of cold, but even just giving it blue flame would be awesome to see.
